HISTORY

Originally three Edwardian houses built for local sea captains with the Hain Shipping Company, Chy-an-Albany was converted to a hotel in the 1920′s but spent a short time as a school for evacuees during WWII. The hotel has been tastefully refurbished retaining much of the charm of the original building. The hotel has recently named the bar after the Hains’ Shipping Company; Hains’ Bar, stocked with the very best of Cornish Ales , Lagers & snacks, from Skinners ‘Skin dog’ lager and ‘Cornish Knocker’ Ale to The Cornish Crisp Company, it’s just what’s needed at the end of a long day! Hains’ Bar is open all day everyday to residents and non residents; Hotel menu & Specials menu are available from 6.30pm every day.

Cornish Artists & our designated charity; RNLI

We are privileged to display some of the very best Local Cornish Artwork available to view at the Chy an Albany for free. Cornish Artists, such as Lamorna Penrose, Brett Humphries and Catherine Stringer are able to display their favourite pieces. Artwork is available to purchase at reception with a donation to our designated charity The Royal National Lifeboat Institution. The RNLI is a very important charity, especially to the Southwest and to all its visitors, so please feel free to have a wander and come and see our Artists display in the Sun lounge/ Bar and Lighthouse Bistro.
